ER: For Emergencies Only
Want to see a doctor because you’re worried about your health or the health of a loved one? Emergency rooms aren’t always the best solution.
- Visit the Stay healthy this winter site. You can get tips on what to do if you have symptoms of a cold, the flu or gastroenteritis.
- Call Info-Santé at 8-1-1. Nurses are available 24/7 to tell where and when to see a doctor.
- If you have to see a doctor, contact your family doctor or a doctor at a walk-in clinic. Many clinics have long opening hours (12 hours a day) and are open weekends (8 hours a day); there, you can see a doctor, get x-rays or have blood tests, for urgent cases.
- Go to a hospital emergency department or call 9-1-1 if your life or the life of a loved one is in danger.
