Hospital and love, the true meaning of life

A patient with terminal cancer had planned her wedding in Cuba, with the hope of flying there as soon as possible. Unfortunately, she became too weak to travel and had to cancel her trip. Committed to ensuring the physical, social and spiritual well-being of their patients, teams on 5th South along with the spiritual and religious services at St. Mary’s combined their efforts and did whatever they could to see their patient fulfill her dream.

Surrounded by family and friends, the couple was finally married in the chapel of the hospital centre in a superb ceremony. Furthermore, Kader Yahia, nurse on 5th South, made all the arrangements so that the newlyweds and their guests could enjoy an excellent meal and a real wedding cake baked by the institution’s Nutrition Services. The event was announced on the hospital’s PA system and André Ranger (Lakeshore General Hospital IT team) served as photographer. Parents and friends received a CD of the event. This memorable moment, happy yet sad at the same time, was made possible by all employees who showed great compassion and donated their time.
